Based on the findings of increased IEL in duodenal biopsies in CVID, an overlap with celiac disease has been suggested. In the present study, increased IEL, in particular in the pars descendens of the duodenum, was one of the most frequent histopathological finding. We therefore examined the gene expression profile in pars descendens of duodenum in CVID patients with increased IEL (n=12, IEL mean 34 [range 22-56] IEL/100 EC), CVID with normal levels of IEL (n=8), celiac disease (n=10, Marsh grade 3a or above) and healthy controls (n=17) by gene expression microarray

View SamplesThis dataset contains microarray data from normal controls (aged 20-99 yrs) and Alzheimer's disease cases, from 4 brain regions: hippocampus, entorhinal cortex, superior frontal cortex, post-central gyrus. Changes in expression of synaptic and immune related genes were analyzed, investigating age-related changes and AD-related changes, and region-specific patterns of change.
Gene expression changes in the course of normal brain aging are sexually dimorphic.

View SamplesThis dataset of cognitively normal controls is a subset of the GSE48350 dataset, which additionally contains microarray data from AD brains.

Maternal influences on the transmission of leukocyte gene expression profiles in population samples from Brisbane, Australia.

View SamplesThis is a companion study to (GSE21342). Peripheral blood leukocyte samples were obtained with consent from 100 red cross blood donors sampled cross-sectionally across the city of Brisbane, Australia. After correction for RNA integrity values, individuals fall into major profiles of expression variation suggesting environmental and cultural influences on immune gene expression.
Maternal influences on the transmission of leukocyte gene expression profiles in population samples from Brisbane, Australia.
Sex, Age
View SamplesThis study contrasts the expression profiles of peripheral blood leukocytes from third trimester pregnant mothers, with cord blood leukocytes from their newborn children. It is a companion to (GSE21311). After normalization for RNA integrity, major principal components of the variation were found to distinguish individuals. Transmission of gene expression profiles from mother to child was documented, along with differences between gestational diabetic, obese, and normal weight mothers and their children.

View SamplesMammalian genomes encode several hundred Krüppel-associated box zinc finger proteins (KRAB-ZFPs) that bind DNA in a sequence-specific manner through tandem arrays of C2H2-type zinc fingers and repress transcription via KRAB-dependent recruitment of the silencing cofactor KAP1. The KRAB-ZFP family rapidly amplified and diversified in mammals by segmental gene duplications, mutations, and zinc finger rearrangements likely in response to continued transposable element invasions, but the biological functions and in vivo requirement of these proteins has gone largely unexplored. We determined the genomic binding sites of 61 murine KRAB-ZFPs and genetically deleted five large KRAB-ZFP gene clusters encoding more than 100 of the approximately 360 mouse KRAB-ZFPs. We demonstrate that most KRAB-ZFPs bind to specific retrotransposon families and that many of these retrotransposons are transcriptionally activated in KRAB-ZFP cluster KO ESCs, licensing retrotransposon-derived enhancers to activate nearby genes. Overall design: RNA-seq analysis of KRAB-ZFP cluster KO ES cells and tissues.
