The goal of this set of experiments was to identify transcripts that are differentially expressed upon reactivation of NMD in an nmd2::HIS3 strain by galactose-induced expression of the NMD2 gene.

View SamplesTo determine the effects of inactivation of both the nosense-mediated mRNA decay pathway and the general 5' to 3' decay pathway on yeast mRNA decay, we compared the expression profiles of the wild-type, xrn1, xrn1 upf1, xrn1 nmd2, and xrn1 upf3 strains.

View SamplesThe pig is important for agriculture and as an animal model in human and veterinary medicine, yet, despite over 20 years of effort, it has proved a difficult species from which to generate pluripotent stem cells analogous to those derived from mouse embryos. Here we report the production of LIF-dependent, so called nave type, pluripotent stem cells from the inner cell mass of porcine blastocysts by up-regulating expression of KLF4 and POU5F1. These cells resemble mouse ES cells and are distinct from the FGF2-dependent, induced pluripotent cell type derived from porcine somatic cells.

View SamplesThe metabolic enzyme diglyceride acyltransferase (DGAT) is responsible for the synthesis of triglycerides. Loss of its expression may sensitize cells to conditions of nutrient and oxygen that are commonly present in tumors. This study is designed to identify stress response pathways that may be induced following the shRNA-mediated knockdown of the two genes coding for the DGAT enzymes. In vitro growth conditions lacking serum and oxygen were used to mimic growth conditions commonly found in poorly perfused tumor domains

View SamplesCD133 is expressed by a subpopulation of human fetal hair follicle placode cells during early hair development. Its expression, which is gradually lost as the placode matures, correlates with early morphogenesis.
CD133 expression correlates with membrane beta-catenin and E-cadherin loss from human hair follicle placodes during morphogenesis.

View SamplesAnalysis of gene expression over serial 150um sections of a single gestational week 18 human neocortical specimen. The hypothesis tested with this dataset was that a transcriptional signature of GABAergic neurons could be isolated via unsupervised gene coexpression analysis due to variation in the abundance of this cell type from section to section. This dataset is the second of its kind generated using this method (Gene Coexpression Analysis of Serial Sections, or GCASS).

View SamplesGastrocnemius muscle biopsies were obtained from 15 health older adults without peripheral artery disease (PAD), 20 PAD patients with intermittent claudication, and 16 patients with critical limb ischemia undergoing limb amputation. Gene expression analysis was performed using RNA sequencing analysis. Overall design: Examination of gene expression differences across the clinical spectrum of PAD (healthy vs. claudicant vs. critical limb ischemia)
Extensive skeletal muscle cell mitochondriopathy distinguishes critical limb ischemia patients from claudicants.
