Gene expression regulated by G-actin switch
  • organism-icon Mus musculus
  • sample-icon 9 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Mouse Genome 430 2.0 Array (mouse4302)

Description

We analysed the G-actin regulated transcriptome by gene expression analysis using previously characterised actin binding drugs. We found many known MAL/MRTF-dependent target genes of serum response factor (SRF) as well as unknown directly regulated genes.

Publication Title

Molecular Signatures of Neurogenesis in the Hippocampal Subgranular Zone of Rodents
  • organism-icon Mus musculus
  • sample-icon 18 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Murine Genome U74A Version 2 Array (mgu74av2)

Description

We sought to find molecular signatures of the SGZ cell types, and to characterize the molecular pathways and transcription factor cascades that define the neurogenic niche. We used laser capture microdissection and DNA microarrays to profile gene expression in the inner (SGZ) and outer portions of the dentate gyrus (DG). Since the vast majority of the cells in the DG are mature granule cells, we compared the expression of the inner and outer portions to reveal molecular markers for the less numerous populations of the SGZ.

Publication Title

Conserved molecular signatures of neurogenesis in the hippocampal subgranular zone of rodents and primates.

Mining gene expression data for low doses of radiation and pollutants (dioxin, toluene, formaldehyde)
  • organism-icon Drosophila melanogaster
  • sample-icon 38 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge IconIllumina HiSeq 2000

Description

Expression profiles of Drosophila melanogaster in response to ionizing radiation, formaldehyde, toluene, and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin. Overall design: RNA-seq analysis on 25,415 transcripts to measure the change in gene expression in males and females separately. An analysis of the genes unique to each treatment yielded a list of genes as a gene expression signature. In the case of radiation exposure, both sexes exhibited a reproducible increase in their expression of the transcription factors sugarbabe and tramtrack.

Publication Title

Mining gene expression data for pollutants (dioxin, toluene, formaldehyde) and low dose of gamma-irradiation.

Expression data from non-malignant fallopian tube epithelium
  • organism-icon Homo sapiens
  • sample-icon 24 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array (hgu133plus2)

Description

Microarrays were used to examine gene expression changes that may be present in the fallopian tube epithelium of morphologically normal BRCA1 mutation positive and negative subjects. Fallopian tube epithelia has been implicated as an early point of origin for serous carcninoma. By examining the early events present in the microenvironment of this tissue between BRCA1 mutation carriers and non-carriers, we hoped to elucidate mechanisms that may lead to the development of epithelial ovarian cancer.

Identification of abrogated pathways in fallopian tube epithelium from BRCA1 mutation carriers.

Transcriptome analysis of HIV-infected peripheral blood monocytes
  • organism-icon Homo sapiens
  • sample-icon 86 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge IconIllumina HumanHT-12 V4.0 expression beadchip

Description

Immunologic dysfunction, mediated via monocyte activity, has been implicated in the development of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND). We hypothesized that transcriptome changes in peripheral blood monocytes relate to neurocognitive functioning in HIV+ individuals, and that such alterations could be useful as biomarkers of worsening HAND. METHODS: mRNA was isolated from the monocytes of 86 HIV+ adults and analyzed with the Illumina HT-12 v4 Expression BeadChip. Neurocognitive functioning, HAND diagnosis, and other clinical and virologic variables were determined.

Publication Title

Transcriptome analysis of HIV-infected peripheral blood monocytes: gene transcripts and networks associated with neurocognitive functioning.
