The viable tumor regions were first marked by a pathologist and the total RNAs were then extracted from the tumor regions The sequencing libraries were constructed using RiboZero and Illumina TruSeq RNA preparation kit following the kit instructions. For FFPE samples, the RNA fragmentation step was removed because FFPE RNAs are fragments.
