Whole snap-frozen pulverized tissues were stored in aliquots at –80°C for RNA experiments. Total RNA was extracted using Trizol reagent (Invitrogen) and purified using RNeasy Mini kit (Qiagen) in accordance with the manufacturer's protocol.

Prague-Rats. Rats were housed in an air-conditioned animal facility and allowed free access to standard laboratory chow and water. All experiments were performed in agreement with the Animal Protection Law of the Czech Republic (311/1997) and were approved by the Ethics Committee of the Institute of Physiology, Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic.
